Community growth begins with strong partnerships, shared vision, and support for the local businesses that help bring life and character to our downtown areas. Yesterday marked another positive step toward strengthening the economic vitality and historic charm of downtown Darlington. 🌟
Dr. Yolonda Holmes-Echols, President and Founder of the Beacon of Light Institute for Veterans and a dedicated board member of the Downtown Darlington Revitalization Association (DDRA), joined fellow DDRA board members in presenting $1,000 Downtown Improvement Grants to several local businesses located within the city’s historic business district.
These grants are designed to support business growth, storefront enhancement, and overall appearance improvements—helping ensure that downtown Darlington continues to thrive as a welcoming destination for residents, visitors, and entrepreneurs.
The businesses receiving this round of Downtown Improvement Grants include:
Papa B's & Mama T's
East & Calla
High Cotton
Joe's Grill
Each grant will assist these businesses in making improvements that contribute to the beautification and continued revitalization of Darlington’s historic downtown district. Investments like these help strengthen the local economy, attract visitors, and encourage community pride.
The Downtown Darlington Revitalization Association continues to play a vital role in supporting small businesses and fostering an environment where entrepreneurship and community engagement can flourish. Through initiatives such as the Downtown Improvement Grant Program, DDRA works alongside local business owners, residents, and community leaders to promote sustainable growth and preserve the historic character that makes downtown Darlington unique.
Dr. Holmes-Echols expressed the excitement and dedication shown by the organization and the business community.
“Supporting our local businesses is one of the most powerful ways we can strengthen our community,” she shared. “When our downtown thrives, it creates opportunities for economic development, preserves our history, and brings people together.”
The Beacon of Light Institute for Veterans is proud to support initiatives that encourage community development and partnerships that uplift the people and places that make our region special.
Thank you to the Downtown Darlington Revitalization Association for its continued commitment to supporting local business owners, community leaders, and residents while promoting economic development, historic preservation, and community engagement within the city’s downtown area.
