The Beacon of Light Institute for Veterans would like to give a colossal shoutout to Virtus Academy in Florence, South Carolina for their continuous support of BOLV’s initiatives—and, most importantly, for supporting all veterans, first responders, and their families through their generous in-kind donations.
Last year, Virtus Academy held a “Dog vs. Cat Challenge,” where the class with the most donations won a pizza party. Those contributions were distributed at our First Free Food and Toiletries Giveaway, held on Saturday, July 19, 2025, at the Hampton Inn & Suites.
When we called, they didn’t hesitate. They proudly and joyfully responded with a “YES!” They truly showed up and showed out. These children are teaching us adults what it means to bless those who are less fortunate. The faith and belief of children—or having a childlike spirit—is powerful. They neither see, feel, nor accept fear or defeat.
We extend our deepest gratitude to the administration staff, teachers, parents, donors, and especially the students of Virtus Academy for their efforts, time, kindness, and unwavering commitment to making a difference. Your collective generosity continues to shine brightly in our community.
